1. My latest episode of Type 2 with swimmer, surfer and academic Rebecca Olive, aka Moving Oceans.

Rebecca has some really interesting and thought-provoking ideas about our relationship with the ocean, and the way women are represented in action sports.

As a listener put it, “…really interesting to hear more of your guests challenging the idea of 'who gets to be a surfer', but even more taken with the idea of how our time in the water can meaningfully contribute to the ecosystem - not just take from it”.

Click the link above to listen.

2. My ACM co-founder Jojo White (that’s us above on our recent away day to Aviemore) has written a really lovely piece about the challenges of juggling motherhood and being an entrepreneur:

All Conditions Media
10 Things I've Learned About Juggling Motherhood and Running A Business
What a ride the last five years have been. Back in 2016, I was newly married and child-free. All Conditions Media consisted of just five people and two dogs in an office in Brighton’s North Laine, which we shared with our freelance pals. Thanks for reading! Sign up to our regular newsletter below…

I’m so full of admiration for the way Jojo balances bringing up two amazing kids while working side-by-side with me at ACM. Click the embed above or this link to read her story.

3. The Code Red swell hit Maui and caused Ma'alaea to light up for the first time in ten years. Watch the highlights above.

4. I just took part in the Bantham Swoosh, a beautiful 6k swim down the River Avon in South Devon organised by the charity Level Water. Highly recommended if you’re into that type of thing - click the link above to find out more.

5. With the UK government and political environment in turmoil, I found this article by John Harris to be a persuasive argument for real and long overdue transformative political change in this country. Click here to read it - and to be reminded that it really doesn’t have to be this way.

6. A few weeks ago I was a guest on the UK Surf Show, and thoroughly enjoyed my chat with Leighton and Pete. So I was gutted to hear that Leighton and Rachel’s daughter Effie was recently diagnosed with cancer. They’ve started a GoFundMe campaign which you can donate to here.

7. My pal and previous podcast guest Hannah Bailey produced this great short for i-D about the fight to save the Vjosa river. Watch it above.

8. It’s heartening to see another previous guest, Sal from Surf Yonder, continue to get recognition for her inclusive, cerebral take on surfing. This Red Bulletin interview with Sal about the Yonder ethos came out last week - click this link to read it.

9. Will the new CI Tri Plane Hull have the same impact as the widely popular CI Mid? Who knows, but this edit featuring Mikey February and friends shredding the bejesus out of the thing probably won’t hurt. Watch it above.

10. Jon Krakauer just posted a link to an academic paper by David Foster Hill, which posits that Chris McCandless would have survived if he’d tried to cross the Teklanika river a few days earlier. Read it here and if you’re wondering what on earth I’m referring to, start here.

I’m not sure it requires an academic study to ascertain a river is easier to cross with less water in it.
